ladies smoking room and the Gilbert Scott suite.
The brief for the work was to re create the 1870 stencilled and pencil brushed schemes after the application of an intumescent fire retardant layer. Our approach for both rooms was very similar.
Firstly we removed all of the existing paint systems very carefully inch by inch using scalpel blades to reveal the original stencilled decoration.
All of the colours were then hand mixed to match the original colours, the decoration and patterns were traced and stencils cut.
Intumescent fire retardant coating was applied by the on site decorators after which we applied base coats and started to mark out and re-instate the stencilled decorative schemes.
The ladies smoking room took approx 10 weeks with a team of 6.
The Gilbert Scott suite took approx 6 weeks with a team of 4.
