Palm Court at The Ritz, the home of afternoon tea at the renownd London hotel on Piccadilly.
The brief was to restore the original scheme.
Scope of work
The scope of work at The Ritz London was to clean and restore the prestigious Palm Court, ahead of the return of afternoon tea at The Ritz to its home following a years absence.
The main body of works included a conservation clean to the ceiling and higher gilded elements as well as cleaning the walls, before raking out, filling and redecorating of the room from the cornice down in the existing colour scheme. We also attended to the re-gilding of the balustrades both in Palm Court itself and throughout the long gallery that runs adjacent, as well as to the main feature statue of the hall, that needed work due to general wearing and dulling that was apparent.
Our skilled team worked over the span of approximately 3 months in late 2022, restoring the Palm Court to its glory in order to have the room ready for the return of 'Tea at The Ritz' in January 2023
