Trompe l'oeil is French for 'trick the eye'. It's a specialist art technique that uses realistic imagery to create an optical illusion of depth and three dimensions.
Used for hundreds of years - with instances dating back to Greek and Roman times - trompe l'oeil is often employed in Murals to depict, for example, windows, doorways or halls.
Our artists have a wealth of experience in using trompe l'oeil to replicate panels, carvings, architectural features or objects in places where, in reality, they could not exist.
